Classification of LED High Bay Lights and the Advantages of Traditional High Bay Lights
02/06/2023

High bay lamps are lamps used in factories and mines. In addition to various lighting fixtures used in ordinary environments, mining lamps also include explosion-proof lamps and anti-corrosion lamps used in special environments.

According to the light source, high bay lamps can be divided into traditional light source high bay lamps (such as sodium lamp high bay lamps, mercury lamp high bay lamps, etc.) and LED high bay lamps. Compared with traditional high bay lights, LED high bay lights to have great advantages:

1: LED high bay light has high RA>80, pure light color, no stray light, covering the entire visible light band, and can be combined into any desired visible light through RGB. Lifespan: The average lifespan of LEDs is 5000-100000 hours, greatly reducing your maintenance and replacement costs.

2: LED high bay light is more efficient and more energy-saving. At present, the highest luminous efficiency of the laboratory has reached 260lm/w, and the theoretical luminous efficiency of LED per watt is as high as 370LM/W. At present, the highest luminous efficiency produced on the market has reached 160LM/W.

3: The traditional light source has the disadvantage of high lamp temperature, and the lamp temperature can reach 200to 300 degrees. LED itself is a cold light source, the lamp temperature is low, and it is relatively safe.

4: Shock resistance: LED is a solid-state light source. Due to its particularity, it has shock resistance unmatched by other light source products.

5: Stability: 100,000 hours, the light decay is 70% of the initial

6: Response time: The response time of LED lights is in nanoseconds, which is the fastest response time among all light sources at present.

7: Environmental protection: does not contain metal mercury and other substances harmful to the human body.

High bay lights are further divided into local lighting and general lighting:

Local lighting is a kind of lamp that improve the illumination of a certain working part. Its function can be to strengthen and supplement lighting on the basis of general lighting, or it can be used as temporary lighting in some places that do not need lighting at ordinary times (such as equipment maintenance places). Most of their light distributions are not strictly regulated. Local lighting lamps are usually installed near the work area and use incandescent lamps and tungsten halogen lamps with safety extra-low voltage ≤50V and AC RMS as the light source. There are (portable) running lights, pendant lights, work desk lights, machine tool work lights, etc. In some tall workshops, spotlights are sometimes used for local lighting.

General lighting is usually evenly arranged on the top surface or side walls of the work site to illuminate the entire work surface, requiring the use of incandescent lamps, tungsten halogen lamps, high-intensity gas discharge lamps, or a large number of fluorescent lamps. Most high bay lights fall into this category. General lighting fixtures have higher requirements for light distribution, and there are two kinds of light distribution, direct type and semi-direct type, which are widely used, especially the latter. Some semi-direct models use upward light to illuminate the ceiling, which increases the brightness of the ceiling and creates a more comfortable and brighter environment. In order to work reliably for a long time in places with harsh environmental conditions such as dusty and humid, industrial and mining lamps have special requirements in terms of structural design, shell, reflector, etc. In dusty environments, closed lamps or convection lamps with upward luminous flux should be used; in humid environments, attention should be paid to the air tightness of the housing and the surface treatment of the reflector; in general, open lamps are mostly used in indoor environments. The enamel surface reflector and the surface alumina reflector should be thickened with aluminum film or coated with silica protective film; considering the inevitable vibration on the production site, the fixed light source should use a loose-proof lamp holder, etc. Now traditional high bay lights are gradually being phased out and LED high bay lights are slowly being replaced.

New technologies, new materials, and new processes are continuously applied to the design of LED light sources, laying a solid foundation for the design of LED lamps. Due to the large differences in the application products of the same LED light source, there are certain requirements for the introduction of standards such as design and testing. Lag, so the products produced by different manufacturers are less interchangeable in structure and performance. At the same time, LED lighting products themselves are a combination of mechanical, optical, electrical, and other factors, and their design incorporates technologies from multiple fields.
